Early Childhood

Parent & Child Program

Our Parent & Child class is offered weekly to parents and their children from infancy to 36 months old. It is a great way to explore the philosophy of Waldorf early childhood education, share parenting experiences, and support young children in building a safe bridge to their expanding world. 

Beginning social interaction in a safe, healthy environment

Parents and children work and play together, share a snack, celebrate the seasons, and enjoy songs, stories, and finger games. Seasonal crafts and activities include felting, sewing, and making simple dolls and toys.

Daily rhythm

We follow a rhythmical structure of work and imaginative play to develop skills for healthy social interaction:
  • Arrival
  • Indoor play and parent craft activity
  • Inside circle with songs, finger games, movement, verse, and puppet play
  • Outdoor play in yard
  • Goodbye
The rhythm may change depending on the weather and the ages of the children.

  • Fall Session, Sept. 7 - Dec. 14, 2017

    We will meet Thursdays, 9am-11am, between September 7, 2017 and December 14, 2017 (except for Thanksgiving Day) from 9am to 11am in the Bluebell Cottage. Session fee: $210.
  • Winter Session, Jan. 4 - Mar. 15, 2018

    We will meet Thursdays, 9am-11am, between January 4, 2018 and March 15, 2018 (except for March 1, when Pine Hill is on Winter Break) from 9am to 11am in the Bluebell Cottage. Session fee: $150.
  • Spring Session, March 22 - May 31, 2018

    We will meet Thursdays 9am-11am, between March 22, 2018 and May 31, 2018 (except for April 19, when Pine Hill is on Spring Break) from 9am to 11am in the Bluebell Cottage. Session Fee: $150.

Class information

We offer Parent & Child classes in three sessions (fall, winter and spring) during the school year. Parents are welcome to attend one meeting at no cost to try it out. Registration is on a first-come, first-served basis. Parents registered in an earlier session receive priority for re-enrollment in subsequent sessions. if you have more than one child, please call the Admissions Office to register and learn about family rates.

Program fees include organic snacks, supplies for craft projects and any written literature.
