  • A Child's Nature

    A Child's Nature daycare offers families in the Monadnock and Souhegan communities a unique program offering quality, loving care for children ages 6 weeks to 6 years. Inspired by the principles of Waldorf education, A Child's Nature strives to educate the whole child: hands, heart, mind, and spirit.  In 2013, Pine Hill Waldorf School offered A Child's Nature a home on our campus. A Child’s Nature is housed in Children's Village Building #9.
  • Temple-Wilton Community Farm

    The Temple-Wilton Community Farm (TWCF) has been "Growing Food in Community since 1986," making it the oldest continuously operating CSA in the United States. A diversified farm of 200+ acres, the TWCF grows and produces everything from raw milk and cheeses to biodynamically-grown vegetables, pastured-raised meat chickens, pastured pigs, laying hens, grass-fed beef and veal, and grass-fed lamb. A short walk from Pine Hill, the TWCF offers our students a farm-based learning experience including farm trips, gardening, and a daily experience of farm work.
  • Biodynamic Association

    The Biodynamic Association awakens and enlivens co-creative relationships between humans and the earth, thereby transforming the practice and culture of agriculture to renew the vitality of the earth, the integrity of our food, and the health and wholeness of our communities. Founded in 1938, the BDA is considered to be the oldest sustainable agriculture non-profit organization in North America.

    Biodynamics was developed in the early 1920s by the Austrian philosopher and social reformer Rudolf Steiner, considered one of the pioneers of the organic farming movement. Biodynamics is viewed by many as the most advanced and holistic form of organic farming and gardening on the planet. Over the past years, biodynamic practitioners have played a key role in the renewal of agriculture – helping pioneer the early organic farming movement; inspiring the work of Silent Spring author Rachel Carson; piloting the first community supported agriculture (CSA) programs; and demonstrating how to bring health and flavor back into our food.
  • The Gaia Education Outreach Institute

    The Gaia Education Outreach (GEO) Institute programs are created to help people engage with the natural word, building from within in each person a sense of unity and belonging. The practical, emotional and intellectual relationships to the natural world that surrounds us are fostered, helping to build a balanced sense of reality. Forming an inner landscape that corresponds to the outer realities is essential for the development of a fruitful healthy person, community and world.
  • Hilltop Café

    The Hilltop Café is located at the Temple-Wilton Community Farm, the longest operating CSAs in the country. We are committed to using fresh, local and organic ingredients to create nourishing meals. Our vision of nourishing the community extends beyond the food that we serve and is seen in the welcoming atmosphere of our cozy restored 1765 farmhouse.
  • Center for Anthroposophy

    Since 1995 the Center for Anthroposophy (CFA) offers part-time and summer courses for all who wish to deepen their understanding of spiritual life and to further their own professional and personal development. The CFA's summer home is on the beautiful campus of High Mowing School and Pine Hill Waldorf School.

    CFA programs encourage an environment of individual creativity and learning. The Center offers Foundation Studies in Anthroposophy and the Arts (with clusters offered around the country), Waldorf High School Teacher Education, High Pedagogical Eurythmy Teacher Training, and Renewal Courses for those wishing to rejuvenate their Waldorf teaching or to renew their work with anthroposophy. In collaboration with Antioch University New England, the Center also trains Waldorf preschool and elementary teachers.
  • Flying Gravity Circus

    The Flying Gravity Circus is a touring youth circus performance troupe that provides high quality circus training and stage experience to teenagers. Flying Gravity performs in theaters and schools across New England and beyond, and offers workshops to help communities build their own youth circus programs. The Flying Gravity Circus was founded in 1999 by Jackie Davis and 11 alumni from Pine Hill Waldorf School. Jon Roitman, artistic and executive director, teaches circus skills at High Mowing School.

  • Association of Waldorf Schools in North America

    The Association of Waldorf Schools of North America (AWSNA) is a non­profit membership organization of independent Waldorf schools and institutes in Canada, the United States, and Mexico.
     
    The Association was founded in 1968 to support schools and institutes. Its vision is to strengthen and nurture Waldorf education and to advance Waldorf principles worldwide. Today there are over 900 Waldorf schools in 83 countries. In North America, there are more than 160 member schools and 14 teacher education institutes.
  • National Association of Independent Schools

    The National Association of Independent Schools (NAIS) is a nonprofit membership association that provides services to more than 1,800 schools and associations of schools in the United States and abroad, including more than 1,500 independent private K–12 schools in the U.S.

    NAIS empowers independent schools and the students they serve. The association offers research and trend analysisleadership and governance guidance, and professional development opportunities for school and board leaders.
  • RSF Social Finance

    Pine Hill Waldorf School and RSF Social Finance share a pivotal moment in their history. When fire destroyed much of a freshly built Pine Hill school building in 1988, RSF Social Finance joined supporters around the world to rebuild. Pine Hill Waldorf School’s decision to rebuild and RSF Social Finance’s decision to lend financial support was a pioneering venture for both organizations. Pine Hill has partnered with RSF Social Finance since then.
  • Spacial Dynamics

    Spacial Dynamics®, created by Jaimen McMillan and the Spacial Dynamics Institute, is one of the keystones of the movement education programs for Waldorf schools. Spacial Dynamics is also used in curative educational institutions, and is offered in remedial programs in schools, as well as a source of developmental and therapeutic support for individuals. As an approach to movement education, spacial dynamics consists of a progression of age-appropriate games, group activities, and exercises that introduce the pupil, student, and adult to the changing dynamics between the body, the surrounding space, and the world in which he/she moves.
  • Waldorf Early Childhood Association of North America

    The mission of the Waldorf Early Childhood Association of North America is to foster a new cultural impulse for the work with the young child from pre-birth to age 7. Based on an anthroposophical understanding of human development, WECAN is committed to protecting and nurturing childhood as a foundation for renewing human culture.

Conservation and Land Management

  • Russell Farm and Forest Conservation Foundation

    The mission of the Russell Foundation provides assistances to farmers, landowners, and other entities seeking to conserve their farmland, forests, and other vital ecosystems. The Russell Foundation played a keep role in High Mowing School's 2015 conservation of 150 acres on Abbot Hill.
  • Yggddrasil Land Foundation

    Yggdrasil Land Foundation is a supporting organization of the Biodynamic Association, the Michael Fields Foundation, and RSF Social Finance. Its mission is to preserve land for biodynamic agriculture. Yggdrasil holds the easements on High Mowing School's conserved land and owns land used by the Temple-Wilton Community Farm.
  • Town of Wilton Conservation Commission

    The Wilton Conservation Commission oversees the town's owned open space lands and guides the development and conservation of natural resources. High Mowing School's conserved land is Public Access, and the High Mowing Land Stewardship Committee works with the Commission on issues around access and conservation.
  • United States Department of Agriculture

    The United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) was a key partner in the conservation of 150 acres of High Mowing School land. Grants from the USDA, along with charitable donations, made possible the presrervation of Abbot Hill land.
  • Xerces Society

    The Xerxes Society is a non-profit committed to the protection of invertebrates. Xerxes is working with High Mowing School to develop pollinator habitats, which will promote pollinator diversity and well-being. Xerxes' work at High Mowing is made possible by a grant from the USDA.
