Geraldine Kline grew up in a small village in France where life was simple and joyful. She was fortunate to begin her adult life in Plum Village, Zen Master Thich Hanh’s practice center in Southwest France, where in the course of seven years she studied and practiced mindfulness, met her husband, started her family and met many people from around the world in search of meaning and peace of mind in our increasingly busy world.
Geraldine and her husband Michael wished to offer their children the most meaningful schooling, which led them to Waldorf Education and brought their family to England, Upstate New York, Canada and Seattle. Since 1996 Geraldine has spent much of her time contributing to Waldorf schools while raising her three children, all enthusiastic graduates.
Geraldine is a 1983 graduate of the Ecole Hotelière de Poligny, where, in typical French fashion, she trained in hotel and restaurant management. Following a few years of teaching French to grades one through 12, she followed her inclination for leadership and organizational development to take increasingly complex roles in fundraising and development. Her career in school administration culminated in her taking the consecutive positions of executive director at the Seattle Waldorf School, a preschool through grade 12 school, from 2006 through 2011 and the Three Cedars Waldorf School, a preschool through grade eight school, from 2011 through 2015.
During her time at both schools Geraldine was able to initiate strategies to achieve excellence, sustainability and growth. Through initiative and an understanding of the unique philosophy, capabilities, and potential hindrances specific to each school, she was able to streamline operations, inspire faculty loyalty, increase enrollment, ensure financial viability and sustainability and establish both schools as key players in the regional educational map.
