Festivities begin on the Pine Hill campus with the Michaelmas Pageant, followed by games & potluck picnic, then wrapping up with a family Barn Dance in the Big Room on the high school campus.
Waldorf schools worldwide celebrate fall and Michaelmas -- and at High Mowing School, we mark the event with a traditional pageant followed by a community potluck and barn dance. Save the date, and we hope to see you at this lively community event! Here’s a look at what we’re planning.
3:30pm: Festival begins with each class presenting their class banner, which is followed by the pageant (please note that this is an extension of the school day and students are expected to stay for the pageant). Weather permitting, this takes place on the Upper Field at Pine Hill. In celebration of autumn, all are encouraged to wear yellow and red.
4pm: Field games for kids of all ages! Upper and Lower Fields.
5pm: Community potluck on the Pine Hill Lower Field. Please bring a dish to share (labeled for dietary needs) as well as dishes and silverware for your family (to help reduce waste).
6pm: Barn dance in the High Mowing Big Room on the high school campus.
Founded in 1972, Pine Hill merged with High Mowing School in 2017 to create a coeducational, non-denominational, accredited Waldorf school serving students from early childhood through Grade 12. High Mowing School is accredited by NEASC and AWSNA (high school current, lower school in process).
