Woodwork and manual arts
Pine Hill has a well-furnished Manual Arts Studio, separate from the main school building. Work begins in the fourth grade, with a single weekly period for grades four through six and a double period for grades seven and eight. The manual arts have the same benefits to the child as handwork. Projects include sawing, measuring, and building a model log cabin and bird boxes, carving wooden utensils, bowls, boxes, ships, lamps, and clocks. Stone carving, stained glass work and some metal work are also included in the seventh and eighth grades. Students work with appropriate hand tools on these projects. Power tools are not used.
