Tuition and fees 2011-12

The financial health of a Waldorf school begins with the school's primary source of funding—tuition. Tuition accounts for less than 90% of Pine Hill Waldorf School's annual budget.

Steiner envisioned Waldorf schools as being part of the cultural sphere of his three-fold view of society, as opposed to being governed by the political or economic realms. He emphasized the importance of viewing school tuition payment not as a transaction to purchase a commodity, but as a contribution to provide a stable environment in which true learning can take place.

Grades

For grades 1 - 8, tuition is $12,650.

Early childhood

Tuition for the Nursery and Kindergarten programs depends on the number of days your child attends and how long they are present each day. The most common scheduling options are shown below. Please contact us to discuss additional scheduling options if your family has different needs.

Explanation of fees and discounts

Enrollment fee

This fee is not deducted from your tuition bill. Pine Hill funds its Tuition Protection Plan, a self-insured tuition insurance plan designed to protect your financial commitment to the school, with this fee.

Late fees

Any family who returns the Enrollment Agreement after March 16 (or the date given in their acceptance letter) will be subject to an additional late enrollment fee per child. Families who choose the single tuition payment option but do not meet the June 1 deadline (or the date given in the acceptance letter) will lose their 3% discount and also owe the late single payment fee.

FACTS annual fees

For families choosing our FACTS Tuition Management Program, a FACTS fee of $41 per contract will be deducted from your bank account directly by FACTS. There is no FACTS fee for additional children. FACTS also offers "Peace of Mind" insurance for $12. We will combine all children into one contract unless you request two separate payment dates. New accounts require three weeks to set up; changes to existing accounts require three business days.

Early payment cash discount

Pine Hill offers a 3% cash discount for full tuition payments received by June 1 by check or cash. Please pay the single payment amount shown on your enrollment agreement. You may also pay in full and donate the cash discount amount to our annual giving campaign. This discount does not apply to credit card payments.

Sibling discount

Pine Hill offers a sibling discount to families with three or more children in attendance: the tuition for the third and subsequent children concurrently enrolled at the school is reduced by 50%. Parents may also pay in full and donate the sibling discount amount to our annual giving campaign as a tax deductible donation.

Other fees

Parents will be asked periodically to pay additional fees for books, overnight/field trips, special projects, basic school supplies in the middle school, and other items that become the property of the student. Student accounts will also be charged for the cost of damage to, or loss of, school property (except normal wear and tear). All payments are expected upon receipt. The cost of one pair of eurythmy shoes is included in your fees.

Withdrawal fees

Refer to your enrollment agreement for a complete description of our cancellation policy and withdrawal fees.
